What Does “Non-Reversible” Actually Mean?

Hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved using hyaluronidase (Hyalase). Radiesse, by contrast, is composed of calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA), which cannot simply be dissolved with an enzyme.

Why Radiesse Has a Strong Safety Record

1. Biocompatibility

Calcium hydroxylapatite is a compound naturally found in bone and teeth. As a result, it is highly biocompatible.

Radiesse gradually breaks down over 12–18 months. Importantly, the collagen that forms around the microspheres is your own tissue.

Therefore, what remains is natural structural support rather than permanent filler material.


3. Evidence in Hyperdiluted Use

Hyperdiluted CaHA has been studied for skin quality improvement and tightening.

Yutskovskaya et al., Journal of Drugs in Dermatology (2014), reported improvements in dermal thickness and skin quality with a favourable safety profile.

What About Vascular Occlusion?

All dermal fillers carry a rare but serious risk of vascular compromise.

Radiesse is no exception.

  • Conservative technique
  • Anatomical expertise
  • Structured complication protocols
  • Prompt recognition and action

Furthermore, hyaluronidase itself carries risks, including allergic reaction and unintended breakdown of native hyaluronic acid.

For this reason, reversibility should be viewed as a tool — not a guarantee.


When Is Radiesse an Appropriate and Safe Choice?

Radiesse may be particularly suitable when:
