Our Approach to Orthopaedic Care
Many joint and musculoskeletal problems can be effectively managed without surgery when assessed early and appropriately.
At Doghurst Clinic, our approach is to identify the underlying cause of your symptoms and guide you through the most suitable treatment options, with a focus on reducing pain, improving function, and supporting long-term joint health.
Specialist Orthopaedic Assessment
Consultations are designed to provide a clear diagnosis and personalised treatment plan.
This includes:
- Detailed medical history and examination
- Assessment of joint function and mobility
- Review of previous imaging or investigations (if available)
- Clear explanation of diagnosis and treatment options
Patients may attend for a first assessment or a second opinion on an existing condition or proposed treatment.
Injection Therapy
Injection treatments may be recommended where clinically appropriate as part of a wider management plan.
Options may include:
- Corticosteroid injections for pain and inflammation
- Hyaluronic acid injections for joint lubrication in osteoarthritis
- Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) injections to support tissue healing
All treatments are evidence-based and only offered following appropriate clinical assessment. Injection therapy is not suitable for all conditions.
Non-Surgical Management
Where possible, the focus is on conservative treatment to improve symptoms and function.
This may include:
- Personalised rehabilitation advice
- Referral to physiotherapy where appropriate
- Activity and lifestyle guidance
Doghurst Clinic works closely with advanced physiotherapy providers to support coordinated care.

Injection Therapy and Orthotics FAQs
What conditions can injection therapy help with?
Injection therapy may be used for certain joint, tendon, or soft tissue conditions where clinically appropriate. It is not suitable for all causes of pain.
Is injection therapy a cure?
No. Injections can help manage pain or inflammation but are usually part of a wider treatment plan.
What is an orthotics assessment?
An orthotics assessment looks at how you stand, walk, and move, and whether supportive devices could help improve comfort or function.
Will I need custom orthotics?
Not always. Some patients benefit from advice or simple interventions rather than custom devices.
Do I need a GP referral?
In most cases, you can self refer, but suitability will be confirmed during assessment.
Will I need follow up appointments?
Follow up depends on your condition and treatment plan and will be discussed with you.
